Objective: Social Contracts & Beginning Interviews for Introductions
Product: What did you learn about your partner today?
Bell Work: Why is it important to have good manners?
Class Activities
Mr. Eastland talked to the students more about good manners to reinforce the ideas that he planted the day before. He also reviewed the rules, consequences, and procedures.
The class then created a Social Contract for the class based on the following questions:
1. How do you want to be treated by your fellow classmates?
2. How do you want to be treated by me?
3. How do you think that I want to be treated by you?
4. Is there anything not on the board that you think should be?
Students shared one or two words answers that were written on the board. This continued until all questions were answered and the students could agree on what was written on the board. They then agreed that what they came up with is how they were going to treat their fellow classmates and the teacher for the rest of the school year.
The students were then partnered up and began interviewing each other for an introduction assignment that they would do start the next day. They asked each other questions about favorite things and what they did this summer knowing that they would have to introduce their partner to the class the very next day.
